Zak Lovelace Rangers face intense competition as Millwall secure £1m deal for highly-rated English forward”

Philippe Clement has replied to transfer rumours linking Rangers starlet Zak Lovelace with a return to former club Millwall.

Rangers respect the teenage forward highly, but since breaking into the first squad at Ibrox, he has struggled with a spate of injuries.

After returning to the squad in recent weeks, Zak Lovelace missed the weekend’s 4-0 success over Ross County, fueling speculation of a return to Millwall.

However, after Philippe Clement announced that Lovelace missed the win over the Staggies due to injury, Millwall look to have shifted their focus elsewhere.

    Zak Lovelace linked to Milwall

Zak Lovelace was linked to Millwall by reports south of the border which claimed the London club would be active in the final few days of the transfer window.

Southwark News reporter William Scott intimated Millwall could return for Lovelace in a tweet about the Lions re-signing the club’s ‘second-youngest debutant ever’.

Being the second youngest Millwall debutant ever, naturally it led to queries regarding Zak Lovelace’s current standing at Rangers.

The striker is out of contract at the end of the season although Rangers are thought to have offered Lovelace a new deal.

Zak Lovelace goes nowhere as Millwall sign an attacker.

Millwall have signed 21-year-old Brighton winger Benicio Baker-Boaitey, amid interest in Rangers striker Zak Lovelace.

English youth international Baker-Boaitey has signed a ‘long-term deal’ at the Den and the winger’s arrival will quell talk of a move for Rangers star Lovelace.

While the fee has been officially ‘undisclosed’, the Athletic reports that Millwall could pay around £1 million to bring Baker-Boaitey to the Den.

The deal also comes after Rangers manager Philippe Clement confirmed 19-year-old Lovelace missed the clash with Ross County due to injury.

“To be clear about Zak, he was today not in the selection because he had a problem with his toe,” Clement informed the press after the 4-0 triumph.

“He received an injection from the doctor yesterday. Otherwise, he would have been on the bench.
