The Yorkshire Evening Post reports that Leeds United’s pursuit of Jonathan Rowe could be impeded by Norwich City’s prior dealings this summer.
On August 7, the YEP reported that the Canaries had already lost forward Christos Tzolis to Fortuna Dusseldorf and later Club Brugge for an initial cost of £3 million, with Gabriel Sara also leaving.
The Whites had also pursued star midfielder Gabriel Sara before he signed with Galatasaray [Sunday Mirror, 4 August], with Tzolis and current Leeds target Rowe scoring 47 league goals combined last season.
Norwich are therefore expected to drive a hard bargain for Rowe, with the YEP article adding that despite the winger having only a year left on his contract, being seen to earn “a good deal” for the 21-year-old will be important for the club’s public relations.
Leeds United could be ready for a lengthy Jonathan Rowe transfer crisis.
Summerville’s rumored sale for £25 million, despite the Whites’ attempts to keep the amount confidential, should provide Farke with plenty of financial leeway in seeking a replacement.
Rowe signed his first professional contract during Farke’s stint in East Anglia and may be eager to reunite with the boss who was fired before the youngster had a chance to make his debut.
