Nottingham Forest have just about secured their Premier League survival, and they must now look to add a striker they have previously attempted to sign.
The Reds have finally done it. Unless a mathematical miracle occurs, Premier League football will continue for another season.
Plans can now be made for the upcoming season, and after a frantic couple of summer transfer windows, things should go more smoothly this time.
Forest have struggled for goals at different points this season, and a striker must be on the shortlist.
Taiwo Awoniyi has battled to remain fit since moving to the City Ground, and Chris Wood isn’t getting younger.
Now, talk about who might join the club will undoubtedly begin, and one individual who has already been linked would be ideal.
Forest should target Maximilian Beier.
It has hardly been a memorable season, but Forest has once again narrowly squeezed through.
The campaign hasn’t been pretty, and maybe lessons can be learnt again.
This summer, Forest will have to cut their cloth properly, focusing on quality rather than quantity.
Beier, unlike Thomas Muller, was connected with Forest during the January transfer window, but Hoffenheim were not interested in selling.
He is valued at roughly £30 million, and it is evident that Forest must sell before entertaining such large bids.
However, the 21-year-old appears to be a perfect match for Forest and is having a fantastic season.
He has 13 goals for Hoffenheim, but has previously attracted Premier League interest, which could increase.
Beier may illuminate the City Ground.
This is exactly the type of signing that Forest fans could rally behind.
Beier is young, determined to succeed in the top level, and has tremendous resale value.
Forest must learn some transfer market lessons, and if they can sell one or two players, Beier will undoubtedly be affordable.
The issue would be persuading Beier to play for a Premier League team in the bottom half, but that should not be too difficult.
Many players have joined the squad from larger clubs, and Beier may see this as an opportunity to capitalize.
Forest are in need of a striker for the next Premier League season, and 13-goal attacker Beier appears to have room for improvement.
This may appear to be an ambitious goal for Forest, but as the phrase goes, if you don’t buy a ticket, you won’t be able to win the raffle!
