Nottingham Forest’s possible major striker addition has been questioned about his desire to join the Premier League club this summer.
Nottingham Forest are looking to add a striker to their lineup with only days till the window closes, and the club is working hard.
Over the weekend, HITC claimed that Nottingham Forest had reached an agreement with Feyenoord for Santiago Gimenez, with the Mexican forward scheduled to fly into England to finalize his transfer to Nuno Espirito Santo’s side.
Tottenham had targeted Gimenez as their number one striker earlier this summer, but Forest are closing in on a deal for the prolific Mexican attacker.
Rafael van der Vaart questions Santiago Gimenez’s decision to leave.
The Mexican striker scored 26 goals under Liverpool boss Arne Slot, and former Tottenham and Real Madrid midfielder Rafael Van Der Vaart has questioned Gimenez’s decision to leave Feyenoord.
“I think he’s a good striker, but Feyenoord is just a really nice club,” the Dutchman explained to FR12.nl. “Why are you leaving for Nottingham Forest? Then it’s for money, which is OK.
“If Feyenoord can get the money, they may do it. Just for the player, I believe Feyenoord is a lot nicer club to play for.”
Pierre van Hooijdonk, a former Feyenoord striker, feels Giménez should look to Italy or Spain for his next move.
“Something has changed in England, of course. Nottingham Forest and Brentford are not well-known in the Netherlands because they are not particularly appealing to us. Van Hooijdonk emphasized that only they are in the world’s biggest tournament, to which every player aspires to belong.
Forest is closing in on a significant purchase of Gimenez
Despite Van Der Vaart’s reservations, Forest are closing in on one of Europe’s most prolific attackers, and with the attacking skill potentially behind him, this might be a fantastic deal.
HITC has been informed that a deal of £28 million has been signed in principle, with the potential for an increase to £30 million. Gimenez, who received an initial £21 million offer a week ago, emerged as Forest’s main choice for the number nine position.
According to HITC, a deal to bring Gimenez to the East Midlands is expected to be completed within the next 24 hours, with the South American forward crucial if Forest are to remain in the Premier League this season.
