‘Why always Nottingham Forest?’ – Nuno Espirito Santo unleashes furious rant over ‘serious mistake’ in defeat to Brighton

Latest Nottingham Forest news: Nuno Espirito Santo’s Reds are beaten 1-0 by Brighton & Hove Albion.

Nuno Espirito Santo was furious with Nottingham Forest, questioning their choice not to reduce Brighton and Hove Albion to ten men at the Amex Stadium.

The Reds defeated 1-0 on the south coast, with Andrew Omobamidele’s first-half own goal the deciding factor. However, the visitors felt the game may have turned out differently if their opponents had a man sent out after the break.

Forest felt Jakub Moder should have been sent off with less than 20 minutes remaining for a challenge on Neco Williams. VAR investigated the incident but did not direct referee Michael Salisbury to go to his pitchside monitor and evaluate it.

Nuno was angered by the decision. And, with the Reds believing they have been on the wrong end of a number of refereeing decisions this season, he delivered the following message: “Enough.”

“This is a red card. It’s a huge mistake; we don’t know how the game will turn out, but having an additional player on the field makes a big difference in football today,” Nuno stated.

We were on top of our game. We were dominant, causing issues for Brighton.

“The VAR made a horrible decision. I don’t only evaluate the referee; I saw the image, and it’s an obvious red card.

“Week after week. Week by week. We get them, they apologize to us, but it makes no difference because it costs us money. We are in a difficult position. We need respect, period.

“I arrived in England a few years ago, and the referees were fantastic. I understand that they unexpectedly lost a bunch of highly competent and seasoned referees. New referees are on their way, and they will require time and sympathy to improve, but we do not have enough time. We are experts, and we do not have time.

“What is going on?” I don’t want to walk that way because I’ll get into trouble, but what’s going on? Why is it always us? Why?

“This is a red card. Why? Can anyone in this room tell me they have a different viewpoint? It seems so apparent, doesn’t it? Now you know what’s going to happen; in two days, they’ll apologize.

The incident occurred a week after referee Paul Tierney made an error during Forest’s 1-0 loss to Liverpool. On one instance, the Reds were furious when they did not receive the ball back despite having possession when play was halted for a possible head injury.

“We received them, and they apologized. Everyone is aware of the mistakes. I’m not sure how many mistakes we’ve made, but it’s a lot,” Nuno added.

“I’m trying to be honest while also remaining calm and considerate, but I believe it’s enough. That’s enough.

“We won against West Ham, but we didn’t get a clear penalty. Why? How come they didn’t offer us one? Why did Paul Tierney give Liverpool possession? Why didn’t Newcastle award us a penalty when it was 2-2 after coming from behind?

“We don’t know how the games will finish, especially today. All of these things, I argue, are enough. Finish. Please explain me what’s going on; why is it always us? “What’s going on?”
