The latest player to be linked with a move to Leeds United is Norwich City’s Jonathan Rowe, who has previously stated how much he adores Elland Road.
With Crysencio Summerville gone, Leeds are now in need of a few signings before the end of the transfer season. They also have the money to do so, having earned more than £80 million in player sales.
Summerville’s exit for an initial £25 million, along with Archie Gray’s £40 million move to Tottenham and others, pushes the fee well above £80. Charlie Cresswell, Marc Roca, Diego Llorente, and Kris Klaesson have also left.
Leeds are interested in signing Hugo Bueno from Wolves as a full-back. A midfielder with goal-scoring ability is also anticipated to replace Glen Kamara.
What’s the new Leeds target? Rowe mentioned Elland Road last term.
Leeds also need to replace Crysencio Summerville at Elland Road, and one player the club is looking at is Norwich’s Rowe. Last season, the teenager scored 12 goals for Norwich from a variety of positions.
Rowe, of course, appeared four times against Leeds last season, when Norwich faced them in the play-off semi-finals. Rowe also struck the crossbar against Leeds in the Premier League, where Joe Gelhardt scored a late winner.
Rowe told the Evening News that the 2-1 loss to Leeds under Jesse Marsch was the loudest he had ever heard at Elland Road. A wacky game. Even though we lost, I was in awe of the atmosphere.
Rowe offers Daniel Farke numerous choices ahead of the 2024-25 season.
Leeds need wingers, possibly more depth in the 10 position, and, of course, a midfielder capable of scoring goals alongside Ethan Ampadu. Given his adaptability, Rowe meets all of the requirements listed above.
Leeds is in talks with Norwich and plans to make an initial £7 million bid, which is expected to be rejected. While it is on the low side, Leeds are anticipated to up their opening offer if it is not accepted.
Perhaps acquiring Rowe for between £10 million and £12 million would benefit all parties, particularly Leeds and Farke. Rowe can provide Leeds with an alternative for more than one role, which is critical in the Championship.
