Leeds United are close to signing Largie Ramazani, with the midfielder thought to have arrived at Thorp Arch Friday night ahead of a £10 million move from Almeria.
Ramazani, 23, shined for Almeria last season, scoring eight goals and assisting in 29 La Liga appearances. However, the wide man was unable to prevent Almeria from getting demoted and has now entered the final year of his contract.
A £10 million transfer is now expected after Fabrizio Romano broke the news on Wednesday night. A deal includes add-ons and a 15% sell-on provision, and Ramazani will sign a four-year contract.
There are also photographs circulating on social media showing Ramazani at Thorp Arch, practicing on a bike, despite the fact that his move has yet to be formally disclosed. However, Ramazani will join for Leeds, so fans can be excited.
What Ipswich manager McKenna said about Ramazani back in 2017.
Ramazani joined Almeria in 2020 after spending three years in Manchester United’s system. He was a regular in the U18 and U21 teams and came on as a late substitute for the senior team against Astana.
However, the winger elected to join Almeria in 2020, where he played 122 appearances and scored 31 goals and assists. According to IBTimes, then-Manchester United coach Kieran McKenna weighed in on Ramazani.
“Largie is a tricky wide player who prefers to play on both sides. He is very two-footed and can score goals. He has a bright demeanor and is generally smiling. “I am confident he will do well,” McKenna remarked.
Where does Ramazani fit into the Leeds team under Daniel Farke?
Ramazani now faces a fight. The Almeria ace will join a squad that includes internationals in his position, including Italy’s Wilfried Gnonto, USA standout Brenden Aaronson, and Wales winger Dan James.
He crossed paths with James at Old Trafford, possibly during training. But his focus will be on gaining a berth on the left wing and replacing Summerville, who has joined West Ham for a cost of £25 million.
It is unclear whether Leeds were able to sign Ramazani before midday on Thursday, allowing him to play against Sheffield Wednesday.
