Aidy White has shared his thoughts on Leeds United defender Junior Firpo after watching him play against Rotherham United at Elland Road.
The former Leeds player and BBC Radio Leeds analyst has been impressed by Firpo’s performances for Daniel Farke’s side.
So, what has Aidy White said about Leeds United’s left-back Junior Firpo? Let’s have a look.
Leeds United’s left back Junior Firpo excels against Rotherham United.
Leeds United defeated Rotherham United 3-0 at Elland Road in the Championship on Saturday afternoon.
It was an easy victory for Leeds, who have now won their previous five league games.
Junior Firpo started for the Whites. Leeds manager Daniel Farke used the £13 million (BBC Sport) former Barcelona player at left-back.
Firpo played well. The 27-year-old provided the opening goal for Patrick Bamford with a clever cross that Rotherham failed to deal with. He also set up a great opportunity for Crysencio Summerville in the second half.
The left-back made one critical pass, had a pass accuracy of 75%, won one header, received 41 touches, and delivered one cross.
This season, the former Real Betis player has six starts and five substitute appearances in the Championship with Leeds.
Praise for Junior Firpo.
Aidy White, a former Leeds player, was covering the game for BBC Radio Leeds and was impressed with Firpo’s performance, praising the left-back for his recent efforts.
On BBC Radio Leeds, White said of Firpo: “He has received some criticism from some people, but he has demonstrated what he is about, how crucial and what an asset he can be, and has been for the five-six games that he has played.
“So, fair play and credit where it’s due. He has proven many people incorrect, and hopefully he will only improve.”
Meanwhile, Leeds head coach Farke has hinted that he would have preferred Summerville not to take Panenka penalty.
According to Leeds Live, Farke stated, “I’m a bit more old fashioned – I would rather have the ball in the corner!”
Leeds are now third in the Championship table, having earned 63 points from 31 matches. The West Yorkshire team is one point behind second-place Southampton, who have played 30 games.
