Dan Burn helped Thomas Tuchel begin his career as England manager with a victory over Albania.
The Three Lions won 2-0 at Wembley Stadium on Friday night, with Dan Burn making his international debut.
The 32-year-old was picked to England’s starting squad and managed to keep a clean sheet.
Burn almost scored in his England debut, but was stopped by the woodwork.
Despite not scoring, the Newcastle United defender delivered an outstanding effort.
Alan Shearer reacted to Dan Burn’s England debut.
That is the opinion of Newcastle veteran Alan Shearer, who discussed Burn’s England debut on The Rest Is Football YouTube channel.
“Unbelievable, isn’t it,” Shearer replied when questioned about Burn’s week.
“For him to turn 32 and have this week. Score in the Carabao Cup final to win the Cup. Then you get called up for England, make your debut, and have a great game while keeping a clean sheet.
“This week, 15th of March to the 21st of March, should be called big Dan Burn week forever now.”
Dan Burn’s great week continues following Newcastle United’s heroics.
Burn can be very pleased with his effort against Albania.
While he did have a few awkward moments after Armando Broja came on, the Geordie centre-back put forth a largely decent performance.
He moved the ball well and tried to break the lines when he could, while he also did the basics defensively.
It is another landmark for Burn, who is now a full England international. He is also a major trophy winner, after Newcastle United lifted the Carabao Cup.
He was important in the victory, with Burn scoring Newcastle’s first goal against Liverpool. It was a thundering header, as he started the Magpies on their way towards their most memorable triumph ever.
It was the stuff of dreams for Burn, whose fairy tale continues.
In less than seven days, he won twice at Wembley. Once with Newcastle United, and once for England.
Burn’s next Wembley appearance might be on Monday night, when the Three Lions face Latvia in their second 2026 World Cup qualifier.
