Paul Robinson expects Red Bull, the principal shirt sponsor, to modify the color of their emblem on the new Leeds United away kit.
Many Leeds fans were disappointed when the club unveiled its new home kit earlier this month, which featured the Red Bull emblem prominently in the center.
As the name implies, the energy drink conglomerate’s logo is largely red, the hue of arch rival Manchester United.
However, BBC Sport analyst Robinson has suggested that Red Bull may have a problem placing the emblem on the away kit.
Speaking exclusively to MOT Leeds News, he stated: “It will be intriguing to see what happens with the away shirt.
“We are led to assume that it will be yellow, thus Red Bull will need to change their logo to make it stand out.
“It was always going to be a tricky one but the impact outweighs any design on the shirt.”
Leeds United fans anticipate the debut of the new away kit.
If Leeds United return to the Premier League, signing Red Bull may be worth roughly £10 million per year [Kieran Maguire, 11 July].
This is obviously a huge benefit to Leeds’ finances, as the present sponsorship agreement is said to be the greatest of any team in Championship history.
At the same time, the fan base should be respected. While it may appear to be a minor nuisance, supporters dislike seeing red in the center of the shirt.
This is a difficult issue to handle because Red Bull’s logo is one of the most recognizable in the world, and they will not want to change it.
Their hand may be forced if they are obliged to change it for the yellow Leeds away strip in order to make the logo stand out.
This is a nice way to change the red color, albeit it will make little difference in terms of the house kit.
Unfortunately, Leeds fans will have to put up with this for at least the next year.
