Chris Wood, Nottingham Forest’s striker, will hope to score goals for the club again in 2024/25.
Last season, he scored 14 Premier League goals and assisted on one FA Cup goal for himself.
Wood appears to be tasked with scoring goals for Forest again this season, despite the club’s desire to add another striker.
Forest have made some moves in the transfer market this summer, with the most recent signing coming at the back.
Nikola Milenkovic was added from Fiorentina for a fee in the region of £12 million and he’s played in two of the friendlies Forest have made.
After checking in at the City Ground, Wood discussed what it was like to face the player in training.
What Chris Wood Has Said About Nikola Milenkovic
The man who led Fiorentina to consecutive Europa Conference League finals appears to be a smart addition to the Forest squad.
The Reds will be desperate to tighten up their defence, particularly at set pieces, this season.
Milenkovic should help with that, and Wood appears to be pleased with his signing of the Serbian defender.
He told BBC Sport: “He’s a big lad with some fantastic feet; we’re fortunate to have him. He’s demonstrated what he’s all about, so it’ll be intriguing to see him more in games.
“I think the four signings we’ve been made have been very astute.”
Milenkovic will quickly become the Forest leader.
The Forest locker room is perhaps a little short on leaders right now.
With Joe Worrall’s future uncertain and Ryan Yates unlikely to be a regular, Morgan Gibbs-White might take over as captain early this season.
The talented player is an excellent candidate for captain, but having a player like Milenkovic on the field could also help.
The 26-year-old captained Fiorentina on some occasions during his seven years in Serie A and he knows how to lead on the pitch.
It’s fascinating that Wood already fancies him to become a solid player on Trentside and hopefully, he can have a real presence at the club.
