Now, Daniel Taylor has explained Simon Rusk’s position at Nottingham Forest. Fans have been criticizing the set piece coach, but the journalist has since clarified the situation.
Strangely, Rusk was appointed a few days before Forest fired Steve Cooper. He has never served as a set-piece coach, but he has managed Stockport and the England youth team in the past.
Regardless, the appointment hasn’t had the anticipated effect. The Reds are currently losing Forest because they have given up the most goals from set pieces.
Dan Taylor clarifies Simon Rusk’s position at Forest
It appears like Forest supporters should be less harsh on Rusk now that he is actively participating in Espirito Santo’s coaching staff.
Since Taylor joined the club, Rusk, in Taylor’s opinion, has been less involved, which raises more questions about his specific role there.
“Worthless – because I often see him getting the blame – that it isn’t the fault of Simon Rusk as #NFFC set piece coach,” stated the journalist for The Athletic on X.
Since Nuno assumed leadership, Rusk has not been as involved. Rusk has largely been left out as a result of the manager switch, which was made by Steve Cooper.
Before departing Forest, Cooper committed a grave mistake.
Gianni Vio was set up by the Reds to enter the City Ground. He was the one who assisted Antonio Conte in creating his intricate set pieces, but Cooper didn’t want him and was able to get Rusk in instead.
The end result is that Rusk’s appointment has not had the anticipated outcome at all, and Forest is now paying for it. It’s time for the players to take ownership of their laughable defense.
It appears that this week will see a points deduction. With two home games left after the international break, Forest will be hoping that it’s not too bad and that they can still make it through.
