Graham Smyth does not believe Leeds United are looking to capture former Coventry City player Callum O’Hare on a free transfer this summer.
Speaking on the Inside Elland Road podcast (9 July), a YEP journalist states that the club is not pursuing the tenth spot as a “urgent priority” in this window.
There are no “imminent” transfers at the club right now, despite announced losses, as Daniel Farke attempts to rebuild his squad for another effort to return to Premier League.
“I would still love to see a number 10 come in,” according to him.
“At the minute I don’t get the feeling that it’s going to be O’Hare because we’re told there’s nothing imminent right now with him from Leeds, and I don’t get the feeling they’re chasing that one as an urgent priority.”
Will Callum O’Hare sign for Leeds United?
Most Leeds fans will acknowledge that the attacking positions need to be strengthened this summer, especially if the outgoings proceed as planned.
Crysencio Summerville is anticipated to depart the club [Ben Jacobs, 24 June], while Wilfried Gnonto and Georginio Rutter have also been linked, and Joel Piroe may be permitted to leave after only one season.
The number ten position struggled for goals previous season, but O’Hare had a fantastic season with Coventry before his contract expired, attracting lots of interest.
However, Leeds appear to have a lot of other priorities right now, with the defence in need of reinforcements and the midfield at risk of being picked apart, so the deal may be reconsidered later in the window if it is still available.
For the time being, Farke and the board are developing preparations for the upcoming season, which do not appear to include O’Hare.
