Arsenal suffered a setback in their quest to defeat Liverpool and Manchester City for the Premier League title as they fell to Aston Villa at the Emirates Stadium.

On Sunday, Mikel Arteta’s side lost 2-0 to Aston Villa at the Emirates Stadium in North London in the Premier League.

Villa’s late goals from Leon Bailey and Ollie Watkins dented Arsenal’s title ambitions this season.

Arsenal are currently second in the Premier League rankings. Arsenal and Liverpool are tied for third place with 71 points each.

Defending champions Manchester City lead the table with 73 points from 32 games.

Arsenal has been really excellent this season, but they battled to break down a very strong Villa team.

Ollie Watkins noticed that the Arsenal players were fatigued and frustrated as the game progressed.

Aston Villa striker Ollie Watkins makes note of Arsenal.

Watkins told BBC Match of the Day: “I felt like we really got into the game. The longer Arsenal didn’t create anything, we could tell by their body language that they were fatigued and frustrated, which I believe we used as incentive. We grew into the game and played some excellent football.”

    Concerning observation

In my perspective, Ollie Watkins’ assessment of Arsenal is quite troubling and concerning.

After all, the Arsenal have been a force to be reckoned with this season, and we are now nearing the finish of the campaign.

Arsenal should be even more motivated than usual to win the Premier League title.

The Gunners had just witnessed Liverpool’s defeat to Crystal Palace at Anfield. Arsenal had the opportunity to go first and build a three-point gap between themselves and Liverpool.
