Wayne Rooney could be talking about Leeds United again shortly if everything goes as planned.
The England legend’s spell as manager of Plymouth Argyle was short-lived; he was removed of his duties in December after 25 games in charge.
However, it may only be a matter of time before we see Rooney discussing Leeds, among other things, given he is in negotiations for a new role that is not in management.
Wayne Rooney could discuss Leeds United on BBC MOTD.
According to The Sun, Rooney is in talks to join the BBC Match of the Day, therefore he may step away from teaching temporarily.
The publication stated on its website on January 18 that the former Derby County manager is seeking a “lucrative” agreement to join the famed program following Gary Lineker’s departure at the end of the season.
If all goes as planned, Rooney may join new hosts Gabby Logan, Mark Chapman, and Kelly Cates, earning up to £200,000 per year depending on how many appearances he makes.
Nonetheless, the news will excite Leeds United fans, since the Whites might be in the Premier League by the time Rooney appears on BBC MOTD.
That means fans might hear the 39-year-old discuss the West Yorkshire club’s top-flight results as frequently as once a week.
The notion of a previous rival manager having to discuss Leeds United, particularly in the Premier League, is definitely appealing.
It would be surprising to see him receive a good management post after failing to achieve success at any of the four clubs he has commanded so far.
