Latest Nottingham Forest transfer news as the Reds prepare to open the summer transfer window.
The race to capture Nottingham Forest-linked goalkeeper Carlos Miguel remains unpredictable.
According to Sky Sports, the Reds are interested in signing the Corinthians goalkeeper after keeping an eye on him last season. However, they believe rumors from Brazil that a deal is in place are “very premature.”
According to Brazilian media site UOL, Forest are on the verge of signing Miguel ahead of Premier League rivals West Ham United. They claim the 25-year-old “informed Corinthians” after training on Friday morning of his decision to relocate to England, with a five-year contract at the City Ground being discussed.
UOL adds that any move would not occur before July, leaving the player open to his current club until then. Brazil’s Serie A 2024/25 season began in April and runs until December.
Miguel’s contract is rumored to include a release clause worth 4 million euros (£3.4 million). In addition to Forest and the Hammers, he has been linked with Watford and an Italian club, with Corinthians reportedly wanting to keep him.
A revamp of the Reds’ options between the posts is expected as the club looks to press on under head coach Nuno Espirito Santo. Matz Sels cemented himself as No.1 in the second part of last season following his January arrival, when Matt Turner and Odysseas Vlachodimos failed to persuade.
Talk of a possible summer exit for the latter first surfaced earlier this year, with reports claiming he was disgruntled with his lack of playing time. Turner, a teammate, is rumored to be interested in MLS.
The transfer window begins next Friday (June 14). Premier League teams will have till 11 p.m. on August 30 to do their business.
