Liverpool stars Trent Alexander-Arnold and Virgil van Dijk have messaged one of their younger teammates.
The two Reds defenders are now away on international duty for their respective countries. They will compete at the Euros in Germany later in June.
One young Liverpool footballer has regrettably missed out on the opportunity to join his country’s international side.
Alexander-Arnold and Van Dijk have both shown him some love on Instagram.
Trent Alexander-Arnold & Virgil van Dijk send message to Jarrel Quansah.
Jarell Quansah, a Liverpool youth, had an incredible 2023/24 season.
The teenage defender came into Jurgen Klopp’s first team and played 33 senior games for the Reds across all competitions. He even received an England call-up.
Gareth Southgate named him to his tentative Euro 2024 team. Quansah was even on the bench for England’s friendlies against Bosnia and Iceland.
However, the 21-year-old did not make the final roster and has already left the England camp, saying goodbye to his international comrades.
That is unfortunate for Quansah, but we are confident he would have learned a lot over the last two weeks having rubbed shoulders with the greatest players in the country.
The defender took to Instagram to wish his teammates well at the Euros, adding that being a member of the England squad was a ‘unbelievable experience’.
Liverpool captain Van Dijk responded to his tweet with an emoji, while England squad member Alexander-Arnold added, “Future looks bright!”
Micah Richards’ forecast regarding Quansah has come true.
Quansah’s ascent at Liverpool during his breakout season has been incredible.
Many people urged Klopp to purchase a new center-back before the start of the 2023/24 season, but the German remained confident in the 21-year-old, which proved to be the right decision.
Some Liverpool fans may argue that Quansah deserves to be in the England squad, but Micah Richards predicted in April that it’s probably too soon for him.
That prediction has come true, as Southgate left Quansah out of his final roster.
He then stated, “He hasn’t played every single game, and he probably wouldn’t be playing if other players were healthy.
“But certainly, I think the factor of playing with Van Dijk has obviously helped him; if it was Quansah and [Joe] Gomez and he was playing at the same level, I’d probably agree [with going to the Euros].
“He has been terrific for a young player, particularly in the Manchester City game, when they had [Conor] Bradley at right back and him at centre-half.
“I believe that he really showed his maturity in that game, but in terms of England, I think it’s a little bit early for him.”
