Leeds United are reportedly targeting Norwich City’s expensive midfielder Gabriel Sara this summer, and have received a boost from the Brazilian’s stance on a move to Galatasaray.
Leeds’ list of transfer priorities grew towards the end of this week, with Crysencio Summerville now expected to leave the club.
He leaves a major void in terms of goalscoring, as well as having the match-winning quality to get this Leeds side over the line in the automatic promotion race.
Leeds ‘interested’ in signing Gabriel Sara with bizarre low offer reported
It was reported by outlets in Turkey that Leeds are battling Galatarasay for the signature of Norwich City’s star man Gabriel Sara.
Leeds’ “serious” interest was echoed by Fotomac, who stated that negotiations for the 25-year-old have already begun, while Habersar Ikirmizi revealed that an offer of around €6 million (£5 million) had been placed.
Of course, such a bid for a midfielder with 25 goals and 25 assists last season, as well as a contract that runs for another two years, would be viewed as laughable by the side Leeds pummeled in the playoff semi-final last season.
Leeds boost: Sara does not want to join Galatasaray this summer.
Fotomac has now confirmed that Galatasaray is not a desirable destination for Sara this month, providing a boost to Leeds’ alleged interest.
He is now offering his preference to teams in England and Italy, despite interest from Elland Road and other clubs.
It remains to be seen whether Norwich would contemplate selling the midfielder in August, but if they do, he will undoubtedly receive numerous offers.
Sara remains an impossible buy for Leeds, despite Summerville’s departure.
With the money we’ve put aside for Summerville and Archie Gray, we should be able to make a big deal this summer.
Sara, like Summerville, falls under the category of players who are too good for an ambitious Championship club to take away from another.
If he joins us, we’ll have perhaps the greatest midfielder in the league, which will significantly improve our chances of winning the league.
