Tottenham ‘remain in the chase’ for Premier League star, with a possible summer deal in mind

Tottenham Hotspur secured the signing of their long-term target, Radu Dragusin, earlier this month.

Despite signing the Romanian centre-back, Spurs are still looking for another defender and have not given up on Everton star Jarrad Branthwaite.

According to Daily Mail columnist Simon Jones, Spurs ‘remain in the hunt’ for the young Premier League star, with the player’s homegrown status adding to the North London club’s attractiveness.

    Jones said in his report:

“Tottenham were assumed to have stopped interest after signing Dragusin this month, but they are still looking as they seek to strengthen their team further this summer. Branthwaite’s home-grown status is an additional draw for Premier League clubs.”

At the age of 21, Branthwaite has piqued the interest of some of the world’s finest clubs, including Real Madrid, Manchester United, Manchester City, and Chelsea, in addition to Tottenham.

Branthwaite has been a prominent player in Everton’s defense, forming a strong relationship with James Tarkowski.

The defender is Sean Dyche’s primary backline protector, having appeared in 18 Premier League games this season.

According to Fbref statistics for the current Premier League season, he is fifth in interceptions (32), eighth in clearances (86), and seventh in percentage of dribblers tackled.

Everton may want to keep Branthwaite, particularly given their current position near the relegation zone following a 10-point deduction.

However, Spurs may explore signing the defender during the forthcoming summer transfer window.
