Tottenham Hotspur are the latest club to be linked with Bologna star Joshua Zirkzee.
The striker has been a standout for the Serie A club this season, scoring eight goals and assisting four in 22 appearances. This has seen him garner interest in Italy, especially from AC Milan, and internationally.
TuttoMercatoWeb discusses the Italian club’s plans to sign him, as well as competition from Tottenham.
The Rossoneri will search for a new striker next summer, as Olivier Giroud and Luka Jović’s contracts are up at the end of the season.
This is where Zirkzee, 22, can slot in.
The former Bayern Munich player is attracting Stefano Pioli’s attention, and his name is at the top of their list. His contract runs until 2026, and according to TMW, it includes a €40 million release clause, with the Bundesliga winners able to re-sign him for €20 million.
It is believed that Premier League clubs, rather than Bayern, are ‘ready to compete’ with Milan for the Dutchman’s services. Tottenham is one of them, and the Dutchman is thought to be on Spurs’ radar.
Ange Postecoglou’s side did not sign a successor for Harry Kane last summer, and Zirkzee could be a player to consider next season.
To calm things down a little, it should be noted that Zirkzee has been hyped in Italy so much in recent weeks, particularly in reference to a transfer, that it has sometimes felt forced.
