Tim Sherwood has commented on Leeds United’s thrilling victory over Leicester City, as well as his predictions for the final Championship standings.
Tim Sherwood has made a Leeds United plea with high praise for the Whites in projecting the Championship’s promotion and championship race outcome.
Leeds were 17 points behind leaders Leicester earlier in the season, but went into Friday night’s Elland Road game knowing a win would reduce the margin to six points.
Enzo Maresca’s table-toppers led 1-0 at halftime and had several chances to put Leeds away, but United rallied to win 3-1 in front of a loud crowd.
On Sky Sports Soccer Saturday, Sherwood was asked if the Championship championship fight might now go down to the wire and replied, “Absolutely.” But please return Leeds United to the Premier League.
“Amazing. I watched that game last night, and they’re never coming back from it unless it’s for the home fans. They get behind them like you wouldn’t believe. We adore going there. Going to Elland Road to play against a rowdy crowd was one of my cup finals every season.
“I just think they were the assisters there last night, and I believe they are automatically promoted. I doubt anyone can catch Leicester for first place in the championship. But I am not convinced they are concerned about it.
“They want automatic promotion, and I believe that because of their support base, they will finish above Ipswich and Southampton. Southampton, listen, they fill their stadiums with both kinds of fans. But the support that they received last night was wonderful. Please give them back to the Premier League.”
