Liverpool fans have been waiting for this news all summer, and it may finally be here.
The Merseysiders are the only Premier League club yet to sign a player in the current transfer window, but that appears to be about to change.
According to The Athletic’s David Ornstein, Arne Slot’s side is ‘pursuing a specialist No.6’ from outside of the Premier League.
“Despite Slot praising Gravenberch’s performance in the friendly against Manchester United, Liverpool have now identified a target in that position,” the journalist stated in the most recent Transfer DealSheet.
“It is worth keeping a watch on that situation this week, as Liverpool seeks a specialist No 6 from outside the Premier League.
“They have turned down bids for Endo this summer, in part because of the tricky market in that position, but are now moving ahead with a signing for that role.”
Links to Ederson reappeared before the aforementioned change, however it is unclear whether the Brazilian is the center of our attention.
What exactly does this signify for Wataru Endo?
With our new manager having tried Gravenberch in the deepest six position and enjoyed the Dutchman’s performance, as well as Stefan Bajcetic still on the radar, Endo’s long-term future at Anfield is uncertain.
There is no disrespect intended for the Japanese international or his crucial efforts in the 2023/24 season, when Liverpool were desperately short of defensively minded midfielders.
