Leeds United’s victory over Sunderland might be viewed as a season-defining moment for Daniel Farke’s side.
Pascal Struijk’s 95th-minute header sealed Leeds’ 2-1 victory over Sunderland.
Leeds will be in awe of Struijk, who came off the bench to not only score the winner but also the first goal in the Whites’ courageous second half display.
Wilson Isidor’s opening undoubtedly sent a shock throughout the Stadium, but Leeds have now extended their undefeated run to 15 games and have recovered top spot in the Championship.
Struijk’s influence was impressive, but former Leeds manager Neil Redfearn identified a Whites player who was even better.
Neil Redfearn praises ‘standout’ Leeds United player against Sunderland.
In a game full of controversy, Leeds should have got a penalty against Sunderland, but it didn’t matter in the end because Struijk rescued the day.
The Whites have now increased their lead over Sunderland to ten points, and the win might be key in Farke’s side’s promotion return to the Premier League.
Struijk was the hero, while Redfearn hailed Manor Solomon for another outstanding performance for Leeds.
“Solomon has been the standout player tonight,” Redfearn said BBC Radio Leeds.
“He’s so difficult to pin down.”
Solomon shines for Leeds yet again against Sunderland.
Solomon continues to impress for the Whites after joining on loan from Tottenham.
The aim is that Solomon signs a permanent deal with Leeds, as after another outstanding performance against Sunderland, Leeds fans will be hoping this is the first order of business when the transfer market opens.
The 25-year-old is already a fan favourite at Leeds, and it appears he will return next season.
It’s another win for Farke, and due to Struijk and Solomon, Leeds moves closer to promotion once more.
