David Prutton has made his prediction for Leeds United’s trip to Sheffield Wednesday this evening.
The Whites travel to Hillsborough hoping to make it 12 victories in 13 league games since the turn of the year, but they are playing their fourth game in nine days.
Daniel Farke has been unimpressed with his team’s recent schedule, and it’s fair to say there were some tired legs near the conclusion of Leeds’ 1-0 victory over Stoke City on Tuesday.
With that in mind, Farke may be tempted to make some changes to his starting lineup, as another tough encounter against a team struggling for its survival at the bottom awaits.
Wednesday have won four successive league games, but Prutton, writing in his weekly EFL predictions column for Sky Sports, expects Leeds to achieve another tight victory.
Prutton anticipates a close Leeds win.
He commented, “It just shows how strange this league is that Sheffield Wednesday could win four from five and move from 23rd to…23rd in the table.” However, the fact that they are in contention to climb out of the bottom three on Friday night, given where they started, demonstrates how well Danny Rohl has done.
“The problem is that they’re up against Leeds United at Hillsborough.” They won against Stoke in midweek after being held by Huddersfield over the weekend. And should be strong enough to get past the Owls. Prediction: Sheffield Wednesday 1-2 Leeds.
Given their recent schedule and the opposition’s form, Leeds could earn three points here, which would be their biggest of the season.
Leeds are set to face a similar clash to last weekend’s West Yorkshire derby draw at Huddersfield Town, who did everything possible to prevent Farke’s team from playing.
However, if Leeds can get Crysencio Summerville and Georginio Rutter back to their form, they should be too strong for this Wednesday side. However, it is going to be difficult.
