The Reds are unwilling to sell until they receive a ‘crazy’ offer.
HIGHLIGHTS
- Liverpool are’very delighted’ with Luis Diaz and are unlikely to sell him this summer.
- According to Fabrizio Romano, only a ‘totally ridiculous’ offer might persuade the Reds to make a deal.
- This summer, new manager Arne Slot will examine the squad, and Joe Gomez’s future will be decided.
Liverpool are’very satisfied’ with Luis Diaz and would need a ‘totally ridiculous’ bid to consider selling him, according to Fabrizio Romano.
MailOnline reported last week that both Diaz and Joe Gomez are expected to sign with Saudi Pro League clubs this summer. However, Romano believes the Colombian forward ‘has a future’ at Liverpool and is unlikely to change this summer.
Following Jurgen Klopp’s departure, incoming manager Arne Slot plans to review his roster and make new additions this summer, but Diaz is unlikely to be moved.
The 27-year-old, who joined the Reds from Porto in 2022, enjoyed another great season as they challenged for the Premier League title. Keeping the squad core together could be critical to Slot’s Liverpool start, since the club rebuilt its midfield last summer, losing Jordan Henderson, Fabinho, and James Milner.
Luis Diaz: ‘Very Happy’ at Liverpool
The Reds value his potential.
Despite recent links with Saudi Arabia, Liverpool are not trying to sell Diaz at this time. Romano informed GIVEMESPORT:
“I believe he has a future. Yes, Liverpool are really pleased with him. He is really happy at Liverpool. So, unless they receive a totally insane financial proposition, I don’t see much changing.
“Luis Diaz is happy at Liverpool, and the club believes he still has a lot of opportunity to showcase his incredible qualities.
“At the present, the plan is to continue together. Of all, in the market, if you receive a ridiculous offering, anything can change. But for the time being, they have a very positive relationship.”
Last month, the Saudi Pro League’s chief executive, Michael Emenalo, indicated that the league intends to sign players in their prime this transfer window after spending heavily on veterans previously.
However, Romano believes that any Middle Eastern team would have to make a “completely insane” offer to Liverpool in order to entice Diaz to Asia.
Slot to Resolve Gomez’s Future
Set for meetings with the Liverpool board.
Liverpool want to involve incoming manager Slot in all transfer conversations, including defender Joe Gomez, according to Fabrizio Romano, who spoke exclusively to GIVEMESPORT.
Gomez has recently been linked with a departure as the Reds hunt for a new central defense, and his destiny could be in the hands of Slot.
Liverpool are apparently considering a number of prospects to enhance their centre-back position this summer, including Portuguese duo Antonio Silva and Goncalo Inacio.
Gomez, who can play multiple positions in defence and midfield, had a great season under Klopp, appearing in 51 games for the team.
