Nottingham Forest are preparing for their third season in the Premier League this summer.

The City Ground has undergone considerable improvements after their promotion in 2022.

Nuno Espirito Santo has taken over as manager of Forest, succeeding Steve Cooper.

In the summer of 2022, 21 players joined the club as Evangelos Marinakis led a significant makeover of the squad.

However, one player rejected the opportunity to play for Forest that summer.

Two years later, he is signing a contract with a Championship side.

Midfielder who turned down Forest deal lands Championship move.

Forest have established themselves as a Premier League club since their return to the big time, thanks to some of their additions.

Of course, Nuno’s side narrowly avoided relegation last season, but there will be faith in the squad’s ability to progress in the coming season.

Morgan Gibbs-White and Murillo are two players who have the potential to lift Forest out of the relegation zone this season.

One player who could have moved to the City Ground must be regretting his decision.

On Thursday, it was reported that midfielder Joe Rothwell had joined Leeds United on loan.

Forest expressed strong interest in signing the Blackburn Rovers midfielder in 2022.

However, he decided to join Bournemouth, who have also managed to maintain their Premier League position in recent years.

But his stint on the south coast has not gone as planned, and he is now back in the second division, hoping for more consistent game time.

Rothwell struggled to establish himself in the Premier League after leaving Forest for the Cherries.

Over the last two years, the 29-year-old has made 35 appearances for Bournemouth in all competitions, scoring one goal and assisting once.

However, it does not tell the whole story, as he was also loaned out to Southampton earlier this season on a short-term basis, where Russell Martin described him as ‘outstanding’.

However, the midfielder appears to be loving the challenge with Leeds, as he expressed his enthusiasm to the club’s media staff.

“It’s unbelievable, as soon as I heard of the interest, it was something I was desperate to make happen and thankfully we’ve managed to do it quite quickly, so I can’t wait to get going now,” added the actor.
