Alan Brazil, a pundit, has recently discussed a Tottenham Hotspur player’s faults following a disappointing late draw at Everton.
Ange Postecoglou’s team opened the game strongly, with Richarlison scoring against his former club, and as the Brazilian put Spurs ahead again, it appeared that three points were guaranteed.
However, a late Jarrad Branthwaite equaliser, a player Tottenham have been connected with, left a bad taste.
A draw is not a bad result away from Goodison Park, but a victory was well within Spurs’ reach.
And, speaking on talkSPORT today, Alan Brazil and Ally McCoist were both dissatisfied with Tottenham’s Guglielmo Vicario’s role in both goals.
Both had sympathy for Vicario, who has been fantastic at Spurs overall, but felt he was an easy target for Everton.

When discussing the situation this morning, Brazil said, “Spurs.” Surely the goalkeeper has to come for that final goal? The goalie must make a judgment and put his fists to it.
McCoist responded, “I’m going to tell you something.” Vicario has been an exceptional goalkeeper since joining Spurs.
“However, he was responsible for the goal against Manchester City in the cup, which came from a corner. Sean Dyche and Everton capitalised on that, especially in the first half.”
Brazil: “By the way, I don’t like it because I believe it impedes the goalkeeper.
“I can’t believe it’s allowed. They are purposefully blocking the keeper’s path. He’s out there, and then he backpedals on his line, which is bad.”
Brazil went on to say: “Well done Everton for showing commitment and battle, but when he is nodding it in a yard from the line that’s garbage.”
Of course, Vicario will likely be the first to agree that he needs to improve.
There is a defense
However, one goalkeeping guru has since backed Vicario’s recent approach to set-pieces.
Data would show that the £17 million Italian is not underperforming in such scenarios; in fact, he outperforms the Premier League average.
However, the eye test would indicate different; Vicario isn’t exuding confidence.
As a result, even a few Tottenham fans may agree with Alan Brazil’s overall assessment that Vicario needs to improve.
However, given how well the goalie has started in North London, he should be allowed that patience.
Speaking of patience, Spurs should finally have a key player back in the lineup this weekend.
