Nottingham Forest won at Anfield for the first time since 1969 on Saturday, with Nuno Espirito Santo accomplishing something not even the legendary Brian Clough could.
Forest won the game with a goal from Callum Hudson-Odoi. It came 18 minutes from time and kept the Reds unblemished in the Premier League for the 2024/25 season.
This was Hudson-Odoi’s first goal this season. The 23-year-old scored eight goals last season and will now look to keep up the pace now that he has his first.
Forest were picked by many analysts and so-called experts to avoid relegation this season. Although it could still be the case, it appears to be a farfetched suggestion at this point.
Robbie Earle has already altered his Nottingham Forest forecast.
To be fair, the NBC Sports pundit was not alone. A number of sloppy assumptions had Forest near the bottom of the table, with some even forecasting that Ipswich would remain up at the club’s expense.
However, after Saturday’s 1-0 victory over Liverpool at Anfield, he appears to have altered his mind about his forecast.
On The 2 Robbies podcast, he stated: “I had Nottingham Forest go down by the way before a ball was kicked.” I’m looking at it now, and it looks like a bad shout from me.”
Forest still has work to do this season.
The Reds are two points ahead of their opening four games last season, but there is still work to be done for Forest. It’s a fantastic start to the campaign, but the team needs to stay realistic.
Forest won’t be back in action until next Sunday, when they face another challenging away encounter, this time against Brighton. The Seagulls are also undefeated this season, so it could be an interesting contest.
However, the Reds appear to be running smoothly this season, with Nuno Espirito Santo reaping the benefits of some smart recruiting this summer.
It appears that some pundits are already revising their thoughts about Forest. Naturally, there are still a number of games left in the season, and the team cannot get ahead of itself just yet.
