Leeds United had to make some painful transfer decisions in the summer, with Daniel Farke once again in the picture for a hectic window in January.
Leeds had to make some interesting decisions during the summer transfer season after failing to return to the Premier League on their first attempt.
The Whites earned almost £132.7 million from last summer’s sales alone, highlighting the enormous clear-out at Elland Road this season.
One man, in particular, has struggled to match the expectations of a move away from Leeds, although it is not entirely his fault.
Ray Parlour and Alan Brazil are ‘surprised’ by the treatment of Crysencio Summerville at West Ham
Crysencio Summerville was a revelation at Leeds last season, scoring 31 goals across all competitions, and it was always going to be difficult to maintain him after the club’s promotion failure.
West Ham came calling and signed the 23-year-old for £25 million, with big things anticipated of the winger in the Premier League.
However, thus far, Hammers manager Julian Lopetegui has given Summerville limited game time, with only six starts this season.
On TalkSport (2:53:30), Ray Parlour and Alan Brazil couldn’t figure out why Lopetegui was treating Summerville so strangely.
Brazil’s reaction: “He’s one of them who gets you on the edge of your seat!”
“He takes people on, his work-rate is very good – I’m surprised he doesn’t start more!” Parlour told me.
Stuart Dallas says the West Ham period ‘hasn’t really happened’ for Summerville so far.
From the standpoint of a Leeds fan, it’s a perplexing watch, as you’d expect selling your 31-goal contributor to wreak havoc on the Premier League.
This may be no fault of his own due to Lopetegui’s disrespect for his game time, but any Leeds supporter will tell you how talented the 23-year-old is.
Former Leeds United player Stuart Dallas earlier stated that it ‘hasn’t really occurred’ for the Dutchman in the Premier League thus far.
“Whenever I saw him running, I was watching him and thinking, he started jogging, which I thought was typical, and then he just took off.” I don’t know if you saw the sliding tackle at the end.
“Fair play to him. But, yes, he is a major signing for them as well, and nothing has transpired for him yet. “I think the Man United game where he scored, kind of taken off, but…
Summerville still has plenty of time to prove his worth to West Ham, but Lopetegui must give him the opportunity.
