Supercomputer predicts Rangers chance of winning Europa League after beating Fenerbahce

Rangers learn their potential chances of winning the Europa League after beating Fenerbahce in the last-16 on Thursday.

Ibrox hosted Jose Mourinho’s team on 13 March in the tie’s second leg, with penalties needed to determine the winner after the Turkish outfit scored two goals in regulation time.
The Gers won 3-1 in the first leg in Istanbul at the Ulker Stadium on 6 March and proceeded to the quarter-finals after Jack Butland’s heroics in the shootout.
With the Light Blues set to face Athletic Club in the next round, Barry Ferguson has learned his team’s chances of going all the way in the competition.

Rangers least favourite to win Europa League

Rangers are the least favourite to win the Europa League after qualifying for the last-eight, according to Opta Analyst.
The supercomputer predicted (14 March) that Athletic Club would have the highest chance of winning the competition, at 22.4 per cent.
Ferguson’s team are ranked bottom at 2.2 per cent, behind Bodo/Glimt, with Lazio, Tottenham and Manchester United the other favourites.
Rangers have also been predicted to have a tough time getting past the La Liga outfit, with a 28.6 per cent chance of qualifying for the semi-finals.

Ibrox confident with Ferguson in charge

Ferguson has a lot to play for at Ibrox until the end of the season, with a win in the Europa League potentially making him a contender for the permanent managerial role.
The Gers icon will be pleased to see his team overcome the hurdle against Mourinho’s side despite making life difficult for themselves in the second leg.
Philippe Clement’s prospects in the Europa League looked decent as he helped the Light Blues finish in the top four during the group stages.
The Bears’ inconsistent domestic displays arguably let down the Belgian manager as they found themselves out of the Scottish Cup after losing to Queen’s Park.
Ferguson will hope for similar prospects against Celtic in the Scottish Premiership during the Old Firm derby at Parkhead on Sunday (16 March).
The Gers are 16 points behind Brendan Rodgers’ team in the league and will be playing for pride as winning the title looks unlikely.
While the Light Blues are clearly not the favourites in the Europa League, stranger things have happened, and they can potentially repeat what they did in 2022.
