Stuart Pearce is a man who has firmly established himself as a Nottingham Forest icon, and that is unlikely to alter.
The guy who led the club with distinction and briefly served as manager exemplifies everything it means to play for Forest.
Pearce is now a pundit, frequently appearing on television or radio to provide his opinion on a variety of topics.
Pearce claims he had contacted Steve Cooper, who left Nottingham Forest in December, to wish him well at Leicester.
He has also stated whether or not he believes the former Forest man will be a good fit for those at the King Power Stadium.
What Stuart Pearce said about Steve Cooper joining Leicester
Over the years, few people have chosen to leave Forest for Leicester.
Cooper might have wanted another go at the Premier League after losing his position at Forest in December.
Now he has a point to prove, and Pearce has revealed how he expects the 44-year-old to succeed in his new role.
He commented on TalkSPORT (24/06: 11:41am): “I’ve been texting with Steve since he won the position.
“Obviously, I’ve been following his career, particularly at Nottingham Forest.” When he left, I was quite disappointed with the club. I believed he had done an excellent job there.
“Personally, I believe he is an excellent choice for Leicester. I believe he will go in there and maintain them in the division.
“I believe he has gained a lot from his time at Forest in the Premier League, which will serve him well.
“The way he conducted himself at Forest was commendable, in my world.”
Forest will wish Cooper well, but ideally he won’t find it easy in Leicester.
It is possible to be forever thankful to Cooper for bringing Premier League football back to the City Ground while also hoping he fails at Leicester.
To be honest, it’s difficult to wish the former manager well when he isn’t in charge of a competing team, let alone a rival Premier League side.
Forest must be harsh in this regard, with no time for niceties when the two clubs face off.
Forest will be eternally grateful to Cooper for his efforts to restore the club to its rightful place and then maintain its status in the top division.
Now that he’s gone to Leicester, Forest fans shouldn’t become misty-eyed every time the Foxes win a Premier League game next season.
