Steve Cooper signing is now very dissatisfied and wants to go as Nottingham Forest opt to absorb a £3 million loss

A footballer signed by Steve Cooper in 2023 is now eager to quit Nottingham Forest after growing dissatisfied at the City Ground.

This summer, Evangelos Marinakis and Ross Wilson are anticipated to make significant changes to Nuno Espirito Santo’s bloated squad.

Nottingham Forest has previously released three players (Felipe, Cheikhou Kouyate, and Wayne Hennessey), and another is looking to leave the club.

Odysseas Vlachodimos is keen to leave Nottingham Forest.

According to The Athletic, Odysseas Vlachodimos plans to leave Nottingham Forest this summer.

The Greece international is claimed to be quite unhappy by the lack of options available to him at the City Ground, and he is particularly eager to relocate as soon as possible.

Vlachodimos made only five Premier League appearances last season, the last coming in December when Nottingham Forest lost 5-0 to Fulham at Craven Cottage.

Matt Turner took over as No. 1 before being replaced by Matz Sels.

Vlachodimos did not even make the bench when the Belgium international joined from Strasbourg in January, as Nuno chose to dismiss him completely from the squad.

The Athletic adds that Nottingham Forest would be willing to transfer the Stuttgart-born glovesman for £4.5 million this summer.

Nottingham Forest paid £7.7 million to sign Vlachodimos from Benfica in September 2023, resulting in a minor £3.2 million loss.

Nobody can blame the Greece international for feeling like this.

We sympathize with Vlachodimos, as the 2023/24 season was a very rough one for him.

Not only did the 30-year-old relocate his life and family to leave Portugal after five years at Benfica, but he also gladly relinquished his No.1 slot in Lisbon, which allowed him to play frequently in the UEFA Champions League and contend for silverware.

Vlachodimos presumably did not give up all of that to become Nottingham Forest’s third choice; he was undoubtedly promised a more prominent role and more than five Premier League games to demonstrate his abilities.

Hopefully, the Nottingham Forest No.23 can find a new club this summer; else, he may be waiting a long time to leave the City Ground, as his contract runs until July 2027.
