Steve Cooper might now upset Nottingham Forest fans by making an unexpected choice, which could happen as soon as next week.

The Welshman, a firm fan favourite at the City Ground after taking Nottingham Forest back into the Premier League against the odds, has been out of employment since Evangelos Marinakis fired him in December.

Steve Cooper’s potential return to the Premier League may disappoint some Nottingham Forest fans.

Steve Cooper would accept the Leicester City position.

According to The Sun, the 44-year-old would accept an offer from Leicester City.

The Foxes, Nottingham Forest’s opponents, are looking for a new manager after unexpectedly losing Enzo Maresca to Chelsea.

Cooper supposedly turned down the opportunity to coach Burnley, who recently lost Vincent Kompany to Bayern Munich, in favour of a Premier League post, with some at the King Power Stadium admiring his abilities.

According to the Sun, Leicester City see the Pontypridd native as someone who can instill an appealing style of play while also improving the present King Power Stadium players.

Furthermore, The Sun believes an agreement could be completed as early as next week, with Cooper, who is also liked by Brentford, ready to return to football management.

Nottingham Forest supporters will undoubtedly hate to see this.

Cooper will face challenges in building strong relationships with Leicester City fans while also preserving his legacy with Nottingham Forest supporters.

The sight of Cooper delivering his customary fist pumps in front of thousands inside the King Power Stadium following a win would undoubtedly make the City Ground fans unwell, considering how important it has become to their relationship with the Welshman.

There is also a possibility that he may outperform Nuno Espirito Santo next season, putting pressure on Marinakis and potentially leading people to wonder why he was fired in the first place.

Cooper’s move to Leicester City would undoubtedly add an interesting narrative to Nottingham Forest’s 2024/25 season.
