‘Starting to rediscover some rhythm’: Chris Sutton believes the £40 million Tottenham player is getting back to his best now.
Tottenham Hotspur playmaker James Maddison is gradually regaining his form after recovering from an injury.
This is according to Chris Sutton, who discussed the Spurs star on BBC Sport when previewing the Lilywhites’ upcoming encounter.
Maddison has returned to action after missing nearly three months with an ankle injury sustained in the disastrous defeat to Chelsea in November.
The £40 million player came off the bench in the FA Cup loss to Manchester City before making his Premier League debut against Brentford and Everton.
Maddison has undoubtedly been rusty since returning as he gets back into the swing of things after a long layoff.
Sutton believes the England international is gaining rhythm with each game and says he’ll be one to watch against Brighton on Saturday.
In addition to Maddison, the BBC Sport commentator mentioned Son Heung-min and Richarlison as players who could play important roles in the encounter.
“Son Heung-min is back, or at least he was due to train with Tottenham on Thursday after South Korea’s Asian Cup exit,” Sutton wrote in a blog post. “If he plays in this game, Tottenham will benefit greatly.
“Richarlison cannot stop scoring and James Maddison is just starting to find some rhythm with Tottenham too.”
James Maddison is likely to start for Tottenham against Brighton.
Tottenham will play Brighton at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, looking to win their fifth consecutive home game and rebound from their dismal performance the previous time out.
Spurs twice failed to hold on to a lead in their 2-2 draw at Everton last Saturday, while Brighton defeated M23 rivals Crystal Palace 4-2.
Maddison is expected to return to the starting XI, and we hope to see him at his best. He was unplayable at the start of the season, and we can only hope that continues on Saturday.
