Nottingham Forest currently has a number of players on international duty, including Morgan Gibbs-White, who is spending time with the England squad for the first time.
On Saturday, he was given game time from the bench as Lee Carsley began his tenure as interim head coach. Gibbs-White came in for the final 14 minutes of England’s 2-0 victory over Republic of Ireland.
The offensive midfielder replaced Jack Grealish, who scored against his former nation. He showed some excellent touches on the pitch and may challenge for a starting spot tomorrow.
Gibbs-White has started the season strong for Forest. He scored the winner against Southampton and will now want to continue playing well and being selected for the England team.
Stan Collymore offers Morgan Gibbs-White’s verdict after England appearance.
The former Forest and England striker understands what it takes to represent the Three Lions. He only made three appearances for his country, which was perhaps too few given his potential.
Gibbs-White will now hope to take his game to the next level and establish himself as a regular in the England squad. The Three Lions meet Finland tomorrow, and he is hoping for a chance to start.
Collymore was pleased by Gibbs-White following his cameo appearance under Carsley. He wrote on X, “First half of damage completed with high press and high-quality finishes.” The second half with subs and a slower tempo was always going to be less exciting, but it was wonderful to see MGW get some game time; he seemed quite comfortable.”
Gibbs-White is worth a fortune to Forest, and his valuation has recently soared.
The 24-year-old attacker was already worth a lot of money to Forest. Gibbs-White cost £25 million when the club signed him, with add-ons potentially pushing the total to £42.5 million.
Several clubs have already expressed interest in Gibbs-White, citing his efforts on the football for Forest. Forest will most certainly have to sell at some point, but that is not something the club is considering right now.
Now that Gibbs-White has an England cap, Forest may increase his valuation. The club will expect a huge profit on what they paid, and they will not be held hostage by larger clubs.
It’s been a delight to see Gibbs-White develop as a player and person at Forest. He is now considered an England international, and his challenge is to remain a member of the group moving ahead.
