Jude Bellingham was once a top target for Liverpool.
The Englishman was connected with numerous teams as he prepared to depart Borussia Dortmund in 2023, and there was a chance he would return to England.
Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool were quite interested in signing Bellingham, but the brilliant midfielder chose Real Madrid instead.
Now, the 21-year-old has given his opinion on another player Liverpool has been interested in signing for a long time.
What did Jude Bellingham just say about Liverpool target Rodrygo Goes?
While Liverpool were limited to a 2-2 draw by Aston Villa on Wednesday night, Real Madrid pummeled Manchester City in the Champions League.
The Galacticos led Pep Guardiola’s side 3-2 in the first leg, with Bellingham scoring the winner in the 92nd minute at the Etihad.
In the second leg at the Santiago Bernabeu, Real Madrid demonstrated why they are the best side in Champions League history. They defeated City 3-1 thanks to a hat-trick by Kylian Mbappe.
After the game, in an interview with CBS Sports, Bellingham was asked about Rodrygo Goes, and the Englishman claimed that he is the most talented player on the team, ahead of superstars such as himself, Mbappe, and Vinicius Jr.
Bellingham said: “Rodrygo, so underrated, you know? For me, he’s probably the most talented and gifted player in the squad.
“I think the things he can do with the football… We’ll be messing around and he’ll flick the ball up somehow and you’re like: “How’d he do that?” I’m trying to do that I’m twisting my ankles and everything like that. It’s a pleasure to play with both of them. You put them in positions where they can affect the games and they will win it for you.
“I think Rodrygo, another thing to mention, is that he’s the one who sacrifices the most, really. It’s clear that his favourite position is on the left. It’s important to note that he does a lot for the team defensively on the right side, which isn’t his favourite.
Liverpool’s interest in Rodrygo
Liverpool have wanted to sign Rodrygo since he was a teenager at Santos in Brazil.
Real Madrid beat the Reds and signed the attacker in a £37 million deal (Guardian) in 2018, and he has become a star for them since.
Liverpool’s interest in Rodrygo, however, has not gone away.
TBR Football revealed in September last year that Liverpool enquired about signing Rodrygo from Real Madrid in the summer window.
Just a few weeks later, TBR revealed that Rodrygo’s camp are aware that Liverpool still want to sign him.
However, the Brazilian has shown no interest in leaving the Bernabeu, and he intends to stay there as long as he is wanted by the Spanish club.
