Liverpool’s search for new players is taking them far and wide, and it appears that they may be looking at the German market once more.
The Reds are anxious to back Arne Slot in the summer transfer window, and a number of players have already been mentioned.
Santiago Gimenez was linked with a move to Anfield earlier today, as were Federico Chiesa and Brian Mbuemo.
Given the names mentioned, it’s clear that the Reds want to add a new attacking midfielder or winger to their roster.
However, another name is now being thrown into the mix from Germany.
Liverpool presented a proposal to sign Assan Ouédraogo.
According to Sky Sports Germany journalist Florian Plettenberg, Liverpool is one of several English clubs interested in signing Ouédraogo.
Plettenberg said in a transfer update for Sky Germany today that a number of clubs are interested in signing Ouédraogo.
Liverpool is among the clubs that have submitted proposals, with Manchester United, Aston Villa, and Newcastle also mentioned.
Plettenberg thinks English clubs may buy Ouédraogo for just £10 million this summer, but the kid prefers to stay in Germany for the time being.
It’s unclear whether Liverpool or anyone else can persuade him to the Premier League right now.
Ouédraogo is a ‘explosive’ talent with opportunity for growth.
Assan Ouédraogo is still in the early phases of his career and has plenty of time to progress.
Furthermore, Ouédraogo has only played in the second division of German football, implying that the step up to the best level in England is significant.
However, this is a highly regarded player.
According to the Bundesliga’s official website, the teenager’s playing style is similar to that of Xabi Alonso.
“While he may not quite possess the passing range of Bayer Leverkusen head coach Alonso, Schalke’s starlet likes to drop deep and build attacks from there,” they state.
“However, he is at his best when using his explosive pace and power to break the lines like Essien did at his peak, and his goalscoring record suggests he could add goals to his game as well.”
Certainly, Liverpool fans would love to see a new Xabi Alonso on the books!
