Leeds United are looking recruit two additional players, with Largie Ramazani now heading for a physical, according to Sky Sports.
Tim Thornton claimed in Sky Sports’ Transfer Centre (21 August) that Ramazani has reached an agreement with Almeria and is on his way to LS11 to complete a physical and confirm the transfer.
As the transfer deadline of August 30 approaches, United is allegedly interested in Freiburg’s Hungarian international Roland Sallai and Burnley’s Angolan winger Manuel Benson.
Ramazani is poised to join Elland Road from Almeria for £9.9 million [Fabrizio Romano, 21 August], following Georginio Rutter’s £40 million transfer to Brighton on August 19.
Largie Ramazani’s transfer must be the first of many for Leeds United.
Although Ramazani, Sallai, and Benson might all play comparable roles in the same team, adding the trio may be viewed as a requirement given the number of goals and assists the Peacocks have lost this summer.
Rutter’s six goals and 16 assists in the Championship last season will undoubtedly be difficult to match, with Crysencio Summerville’s 21 goals and 10 assists across all competitions going even farther.
That’s 53 goals from just two players, and if Daniel Farke wants his attacking squad to be as effective as possible coming season, Ramazani can’t be the sole newcomer.
Sallai and Benson’s moves, if approved following Ramazani’s, would help to assuage a sense of distrust and fury among the Elland Road crowd, which has already seen academy product Archie Gray transferred.
The departures of Gray, Summerville, and most lately Rutter have resulted in fees that the Whites must spend if they are to have any chance of promotion, and that expenditure should be spearheaded by the introduction of a new gung-ho attacking trio.
