Simon Jordan gives ‘unlikely’ verdict when asked who wins promotion as Leeds face Norwich

Leeds United will face Norwich City at Elland Road tonight in the fight for promotion to the Premier League, and Simon Jordan has predicted that Leeds will win the play-offs.

The Whites face Norwich City in the second leg of the Championship play-off semi-finals, following a 0-0 stalemate in the first leg at Carrow Road, with Leeds favourites to defeat Norwich and go to the final on May 26.

The Yorkshire side will have gained some momentum from their match in East Anglia on Sunday, which ended a dreadful run of form that saw them enter the play-offs with one clean sheet in eight games and two straight losses.

Leeds are expected to win and Danny Mills said as much on Thursday morning, predicting a Leeds win and to reach the final – and now, outspoken pundit Simon Jordan has given his verdict on promotion.

A win tonight will see Leeds take on either Southampton or West Brom in the final with both sides also drawing in the first leg. Jordan said he is a “great admirer” of Leeds, and gave his verdict on promotion.

Here is what he told TalkSPORT (Thursday, 11.55AM) about Leeds’ chances of promotion:

Jordan does not believe Leeds will win promotion this season.

Leeds will be without Patrick Bamford on Thursday evening, as the striker is still recovering from an injury received against Middlesbrough and has missed the last three Championship games.

David Wagner also has injury concerns, with the Norwich manager stating that Ashley Barnes will most certainly miss Thursday night. Jordan anticipates Leeds to defeat Norwich but struggle in the play-off final.

“I’ve always said Leeds will win. It will be a final between Leeds and Southampton, and Southampton will win. I am a huge Leeds fan, and I would be overjoyed if they made it to the Premier League.

David Wagner explains why Leeds doesn’t have an advantage tonight.

Looking at tonight’s game, the Whites appear to have the advantage because we prevented Norwich from winning at home. The Yorkshire club is playing a one-game shootout at Elland Road.

However, Norwich manager Wagner does not believe playing at home is a significant advantage coming into tonight’s match, possibly in an attempt to inculcate some mind games ahead of a journey to Yorkshire later evening.

With Bamford out, Leeds have Connor Roberts and Dan James available, and Farke will have to make a few decisions before announcing his line-up to face The Canaries in Yorkshire.
