Simon Jordan announces the updated Leeds and Leicester automatic promotion decision live on talkSPORT

Simon Jordan believes Leeds United have done everything they can to avoid automatic promotion to the Premier League with their recent results, but he warns Ipswich Town that the season is far from finished.

Kieran McKenna was crowned Manager of the Season at the EFL Awards on Sunday (14 April), and he has helped Ipswich retain their title hopes alongside Leeds and Leicester, with his club leading the Championship standings following a 1-1 draw with Middlesbrough.

The Whites had the potential to be table-toppers, but were defeated 1-0 by Blackburn Rovers at Elland Road on Saturday (April 13).

Jordan told talkSPORT on Monday (15 April): “They’ve (Ipswich) not achieved anything yet in terms of getting out of the division, and they have to focus on the fact that there are games that Leeds and Leicester have that can change the picture very quickly if Ipswich don’t do their job.”

“Ipswich has given itself a fantastic chance. In recent weeks, Leeds and Leicester have done all possible to avoid being promoted automatically.

Can Leeds United beat Leicester City and Ipswich Town to the Championship title?

Ipswich’s narrative has dominated the headlines for much of the season, thus McKenna deserves the Manager of the Season accolade.

However, Leeds will be looking to kill their chances of winning the title or even gaining promotion, as only two of the three title contenders can be promoted automatically.

Leeds fans will be concerned about the club’s recent run of results at Elland Road, which includes three straight defeats – a 2-1 loss to Coventry City, a 0-0 tie against Sunderland, and a 1-0 loss to Blackburn.
