Leeds United’s 2-0 victory over Sheffield Wednesday was followed by a huge transfer update from Fabrizio Romano.
The Whites secured their first win of the season against Hillsborough, capping off a fantastic couple of days, but the good news doesn’t stop there.
After a difficult first week of the season, Leeds have managed to turn things around at the club, with Largie Ramazani’s arrival from UD Almeria completing a 32-day wait for a signing.
Ramazani was not signed in time to play against Sheffield Wednesday, but even without any new faces, Leeds looked significantly better than at West Brom last Saturday, with Brenden Aaronson making an impact.
Aaronson scored his second goal of the season to put Leeds ahead, and Dan James added another. They are about to be joined by another aggressive signing.
Leeds is close to completing the Manor Solomon transaction.
Even after Ramazani arrived, Leeds were always looking for another attacking signing when Georginio Rutter left.
There have been ties to a number of potential targets, including Manuel Benson, Roland Sallai, and Ilan Kebbal, but another player is close to making the move to Elland Road.
Just over an hour after full-time in South Yorkshire, Fabrizio Romano tweeted that Leeds are on the close of signing Tottenham winger Manor Solomon.
Solomon is expected to arrive on a season-long loan from Tottenham and will have a medical in West Yorkshire today before completing all of the procedures.
The 25-year-old is a huge coup for Leeds at this level, having turned down a move to La Liga club Getafe in favour of going down to the Championship.
Based on how long it took to announce Ramazani, Solomon’s relocation might be completed as early as today, assuming all goes well.
Where would Solomon fit in Leeds?
With all of the linkages to left-footed right-wingers, this is an intriguing addition, especially given Solomon’s similarities to Leeds’ current roster.
His preferred position is on the left, and as evidenced by his FA Cup goal against Leeds for Fulham nearly 18 months ago, he enjoys cutting in and shooting on his right.
Daniel Farke has consistently stated that just two forward acquisitions will be made before the end of the year, but it will be intriguing to watch whether they continue to target either Sallai, Benson, or Kebbal to improve the squad’s balance.
That might entail an exit for one of Leeds’ top players, however Solomon appears to be a very solid signing based just on skill.
