Nottingham Forest’s pursuit of Santiago Gimenez is anticipated to come closer in the coming days.
Nottingham Forest’s pursuit of Feyenoord attacker Santiago Gimenez may be ratcheting up, with “news” expected in the coming days.
The Reds are thought to be interested in the Argentina-born striker, who has represented Mexico 30 times. Forest were believed to be interested in signing the striker. Gimenez has impressed in the Eredivisie, scoring 38 goals in 62 top-flight games since moving from Cruz Azul in 2022.
Journalist Fabrizio Romano provided the most recent report on the probable transfer via his YouTube account. He said, “Is there any news about Santiago Gimenez?” I believe Santiago Gimenez may receive some news in the coming days. I expect action around Santiago Gimenez, and I believe it may be in the Premier League. There is movement about Santiago Gimenez; I can’t say much more at this time.
Chris Wood has successfully led the line during the preseason, but Nuno will be looking to bring in a new face to generate competition for places and additional depth in the forward areas.
Gimenez is thought to be under contract with the Rotterdam-based club until 2027, which could result in an exaggerated sum because the Dutch club will be in no hurry to sell their star striker.
However, as Nottinghamshire Live revealed earlier this week, the midfielder is willing to consider a transfer if the opportunity arises. When asked about a potential transfer, he said: “If there is an opportunity that compares to Feyenoord, then I have to look into it,” according to Dutch site Rijnmond.
If the 23-year-old makes the transition, Forest supporters might be treated to a’second striker’ with goal-scoring talent and an eye for a pass, and he is not afraid to drop into the middle of the pitch to help with build-up play.
Dirk Kuyt, a former Liverpool and Feyenoord player, referred to Gimenez as “the best striker in Eredivisie” in an interview with Voetbal two years ago, and the forward has since become even more frightening to opposing defenders.
