Nottingham Forest are in risk of being demoted to the Championship at the end of this season.
Nuno’s side is currently 17th in the Premier League rankings, having collected 24 points from 27 games.
Nottingham Forest are facing a points deduction.
Nottingham Forest, who lost to Liverpool at the City Ground on Saturday due to a contentious late goal, are four points ahead of Luton Town, who are third from bottom after 26 games.
There is also the threat of a point deduction. According to talkSPORT, Forest has violated Profitability and Sustainability rules and will face Premier League sanctions.
Forest could be docked points at their hearing later this month. The Premier League club will almost probably appeal, but the final decision will not be handed until after the season has concluded.
That will generate problems not only for Forest, but also for the other clubs in and surrounding the relegation zone.
Thomas Frank has his say.
Brentford is one of the clubs in danger of relegation to the Championship, and its manager, Thomas Frank, hopes that the final decision is reached before the end of the season.
However, the Bees’ manager has stated unequivocally that if Forest are proven to be guilty of any wrongdoing, they would be pushed.
According to the London Evening Standard, Frank stated, “For me, it’s very simple: if you break the rules, there must be consequences — end of discussion.” That’s our civilization, and that’s the football world we live in — boom.
“How much or how little?” There are far smarter men than myself. Fortunately, they take care of that, and they should be aware of the appropriate sanction. I don’t care if it’s two points, six points, ten points, or twenty points—it’s up to them. I’m here to coach a football team and try to win a couple more football games.
“The only thing I would say is that based on what you’ve read, Nottingham [Forest] and Everton will receive a points deduction in the near future. They will appeal, and the outcome of that appeal should be known by the conclusion of the season for everyone involved, particularly Nottingham and Everton.”
Brentford, like Forest, is battling relegation. The London club is now 15th in the Premier League rankings, with 26 points from 27 games.
The Bees are six points higher than the bottom three. They have lost three of their previous five Premier League games, including a draw with Chelsea on Saturday.
