The gossip mill has stepped up over a possible return for the winger.
Free agent Ryan Kent will reportedly be offered a return to Rangers, according to rumors in Turkey.
The winger’s big-money contract at Fenerbahce was terminated just 16 months after leaving the Scottish Premiership, despite having scarcely featured for the Turkish giants since his Ibrox departure. Boss Philippe Clement admitted last year that he was an admirer of the Englishman and had attempted to sign him when in charge of Club Brugge – and various Turkish publications now believe that the boss is about to make another move to sign the wide man, which has sparked social media speculation.
According to Kontraspor, the 27-year-old has been offered a six-month contract with the possibility of a one-year extension as he attempts to relaunch his career. According to Guven Gazetesi, the forward is “keen” to return to his former club in order to relaunch his career.
The murmur has split the Ibrox faithful on social media. One fan stated, “Ryan Kent’s quality for nothing in January would be an excellent acquisition. Especially when we need more choices in various positions.” Another commented, “Normally I’d be against it, but with a limited budget, Kent in.”
One punter was more pessimistic: “Kent on his day was unplayable and entertaining to watch. However, such instances were rare. On his off days, he wore an empty jersey, which was annoying. Give him a six-month contract with a one-year club option and make him prove he wants to return.
It remains to be seen whether the rumors are true, but considering his fondness for the club, the man himself would most certainly be receptive to returning. After departing Rangers at the end of his contract in 2023, he hinted at a possible return and confessed that he would always carry the club with him.
He added revealed he would keeping close tabs on his old side this term. Kent commented on social media: “Thank you to all the Rangers fans. I’ll remember my stay at Ibrox for the rest of my life. Thank you to all of my teammates, management team, and backroom staff, past and present. I’ll miss you all.
“Now it is time for me to go on an exciting new chapter in my career and continue my football career as a player abroad. Rangers, however, will always hold a special place in my heart. I hope to cheer you on to success in the SPFL next season. “Simply the best.”
