Tottenham Hotspur agreed to sign Swedish midfielder Lucas Bergvall Wednesday night.
The 18-year-old midfielder is scheduled to have his physical with the North London club later today and will sign a five-year contract.
The Djurgarden midfielder was also a target for Spanish giants Barcelona. Tottenham, on the other hand, was able to hijack the transfer and persuade the player to join them instead.
Fabrizio Romano has claimed that Dejan Kulusevski ‘had a role’ in the Londoners’ last-minute decision.
The 23-year-old Tottenham winger persuaded his colleague to join the Premier League rather than go to Spain. Bergvall is a tremendous talent with a great reputation throughout Europe. He could emerge as a significant performer for the north London club in the coming seasons.
Bergvall will continue with Djurgarden until the conclusion of the season before joining the Premier League team in the summer. He is anticipated to be a part of Tottenham’s first-team squad next season, and it will be intriguing to see if he can get enough playing time under Ange Postecoglou.
Tottenham reportedly spent €10 million plus bonuses for the highly regarded midfielder, and the move could prove to be a masterstroke in the long run. If Bergvall can swiftly adapt to English football and reach his full potential, the purchase could appear to be a great deal.
