Nottingham Forest are currently flying in the Premier League, with 40 points from 20 games halfway through the season.
Forest has had quite the trip under Nuno Espirito Santo. After narrowly surviving relegation last season, the head coach has no desire for a similar performance in 2024/25.
Gary Lineker has already altered his mind about Forest this season, and other analysts have followed suit after tedious pre-season forecasts that tipped the Reds for relegation.
The January transfer window is officially open for business, and Forest’s priorities are quite different this year. Rather than pursuing multiple new faces, the objective will be to keep the current squad together.
A number of players have been linked with moves away from the City Ground. Liverpool fancy Morgan Gibbs-White and Elliot Anderson, however, it’s unlikely those two players will depart any time soon.
Galatasaray fancy trying to poach Forest star Ola Aina
The Turkish giants have been interested in certain Forest players before. Nicolas Dominguez was a target for Galatasaray during the summer window but nothing came of it.
Now, attention looks to have turned to Aina. The versatile full-back is out of contract during the summer and he’s now free to discuss pre-contract terms with clubs outside of England.
According to Turkish site Sabah, Aina is also interested in joining Galatasaray, which seems a little far-fetched given how content the defender appears to be at Forest.
In contrary to their claims, it is anticipated that Galatasaray will need to raise finances to sign him within this window. The current full-back option, Elias Jelert, is out of favour, but they will not recuperate the £7 million they invested for him.
Aina will stay at Forest after the end of the season.
It shows how ridiculous these allegations are since it has already been stated that Forest will trigger an extension of Aina’s contract. Sky Sports made the remark, and they should be taken more seriously.
The 28-year-old will then negotiate an even lengthier contract to continue at Forest. He has been instrumental in the current campaign, and Espirito Santo is a huge supporter of his.
These reports don’t make much sense. Indeed, Galatasaray may enjoy Aina’s appearance, but it’s difficult to believe he’s open to a move while Forest are performing well on the pitch.
