Nottingham Forest are looking to add another striker to their squad, and Santiago Gimenez is one of the names on the shortlist.
The Reds drew their first game of 2024/25 against Bournemouth yesterday, as striker Chris Wood picked up where he left off the previous season.
His 14 goals last season helped Forest stay in the Premier League, and it is hoped he can do the same this time around.
Forest, on the other hand, is in need of offensive reinforcements, and Gimenez is one name that is high on the club’s priority list.
The Feyenoord player is currently signed to a decent contract with the Eredivisie club, but some news has been delivered that may delight the fan base.
Update provided on Nottingham Forest’s interest in Santiago Gimenez.
If this is true – and the source is reliable – Forest fans can be forgiven for being a little excited.
According to Fox Sports, Forest have already made an approach to sign Gimenez, with Nuno Espirito Santo and Miltos Marinakis speaking with the midfielder.
Furthermore, it is thought that the midfielder will not reject Forest if Feyenoord accepts an offer this summer.
Gimenez was in excellent form last season, scoring 26 goals for his club, which has piqued the interest of several European clubs.
It’s unclear how much Feyenoord would charge to sell him, but things appear to be heating up at the City Ground.
Gimenez, 23, has had an impressive start to the 2024/25 season, scoring four goals and assisting twice.
On Sunday, he scored twice in four minutes as Feyenoord defeated PEC Zwolle 5-1 away from home.
Forest must go and get Gimenez.
This one should be over quickly from here, and Forest must now dig deep to get Gimenez over the finish line.
The man scores goals for joy, and while the Premier League is a step up from the Eredivisie, he’s worth the risk.
At 23, he still has plenty of time to improve, and Gimenez understands where the back of the net is.
Forest presently has Wood and Taiwo Awoniyi battling for the position in attack, and both have limitations.
Wood is getting older, whereas Awoniyi has struggled to keep fit since being plucked from Union Berlin in 2022.
Gimenez would add some youthful excitement and a flair for being a prolific goalscorer to the City Ground, and this is a transaction that the clubs simply must get done.
