Leeds United now face a challenging summer after failing to secure promotion back to the Premier League.
Southampton defeated the Whites 1-0 in the Championship play-off final on Sunday, denying them an automatic return to the top flight.
Leeds were the only one of the three relegated sides who did not bounce back at the first try, therefore big changes to the playing roster are possible.
Leeds will see their parachute payments reduced by 10%, while 49ers Enterprises has admitted that they will need to sell some important players in order to raise some immediate cash.
Leeds lost numerous loan players last summer following relegation, but they cannot afford to do so again this season since a portion of the £190 million in overdue transfer instalments must be paid by June 30.
Jack Harrison might potentially join Everton permanently.
Leeds previously sold Luis Sinisterra to Bournemouth in March for a big sum of money up front, reducing the need to sell too many.
Championship POTS Crysencio Summerville is the player most likely to attract attention, but Leeds intend to move some of their returning loanees first.
Jack Harrison, Max Wober, Marc Roca, and Diego Llorente may all go permanently, with Everton now sure of signing the former, according to the Daily Mail.
According to reports, Leeds’ failure to be promoted has strengthened Everton’s hand in discussions, with the Toffees looking into the possibility of making his stay on Merseyside permanent.
Harrison does have a clause that allows him to depart on loan again, but a low-cost deal may entice Everton into making a firm approach instead.
Leeds paid £11 million to sign him from Manchester City in 2021, so any profit on that would be a terrific bargain for the club. Hopefully, it can be finished fast.
Brenden Aaronson confirms Leeds’ comeback.
With the club season over, Brenden Aaronson is the lone player who has officially announced he will not be signing somewhere permanently.
Aaronson delivered a ‘thank you’ note to Union Berlin at the end of last week, hinting that he will return to Leeds in the summer.
However, Leeds are thought to be open to offers of around £10 million, making it doubtful that he will be welcomed back to Elland Road.
That would represent a considerable loss of £15 million, but at this point, he is simply someone who needs to be removed from the books as quickly as feasible.
