Nottingham Forest have suffered another transfer setback after appearing to be on the verge of signing their first summer move.
Instead, the player in issue appears to be heading to Wolverhampton Wanderers, despite significant reports linking him to Nottingham Forest.
Nuno Espirito Santo’s side has an interesting month, with Forest one of the clubs need to sell players by June 30 to comply with PSR rules.
Despite this, Evangelos Marinakis’ side is still connected with a number of prospective signings ahead of the summer transfer window opening.
Forest are reported to be closing in on a deal for Corinthians goalkeeper Carlos Miguel, who is now’ready to play’ under Nuno.
However, another rumored transfer target appears to have ruled out a move to the City Ground in favour of a move to Wolves.
Nottingham Forest poised to lose out to Wolves on summer target.
According to reports on Thursday afternoon, Forest was set to make their first signing of the summer with free agent Che Adams.
The former Southampton striker has left the south coast in recent days, with reports indicating that he will sign elsewhere for free.
Fabrizio Romano stated Forest were currently leading the race, with an agreement set to be signed soon.
However, there has been a new twist.
According to the Daily Record, the Scotland international is now ready to join with Wolves, notwithstanding Romano’s story.
Wolves are expected to sign the 27-year-old after a £18 million deal was rejected last summer.
Forest appear to be forced to explore elsewhere for a new striker following a big twist in the Adams competition.
Che Adams now has to show himself in the Premier League.
The Scotsman enters the 2024/25 season having scored 15 goals in the Championship to help Southampton bounce back to the top division.
Adams has 124 Premier League appearances under his belt, with 25 goals.
Clearly, that is not the record of a prolific striker, as Chris Wood scored 15 league goals in 2023/24.
His former manager, Ralph Hasenhuttl, has previously described the striker as “fantastic,” but he still has a lot to prove if he wants to be considered a reliable striker in the Premier League.
Adams may have had a successful season in the Championship, but transferring those goals to the Premier League may be challenging for the striker.
