Report: Nottingham Forest wants a new deal signed by another defender after Willy Boly

After securing a new contract for Willy Boly, Nottingham Forest have revealed that they want to give another of their defenders a new City Ground agreement.

Since their elevation to the Premier League, the Reds have been synonymous with transfer activity. Now it appears that another frantic window is in store, regardless of the clubs’ division.

Last week, Forest lost four points for violating PSR rules. Murillo has since been linked with a move away from Forest, with Morgan Gibbs-White.

Forest reportedly want to keep some of their existing squad. It has been suggested that Boly could be given a new contract at the club, although another defender is also looking for an extension.

Nottingham Forest will offer Ola Aina contract extension.

According to The Telegraph, Forest are expected to be very busy at the end of the season, with Aina at the center of the club’s negotiations for a new contract.

Aina’s inaugural season at Forest has been mainly successful. He has played in a variety of positions to help the cause, with any full-back position considered his own.

Aina made 14 appearances for Forest during the 2023/24 season after signing on a free transfer from Torino in the summer. He has not played since a 2-1 victory over Manchester United in December, however.

The 27-year-old recently returned from the African Cup of Nations with an injury. At the tournament, he helped Nigeria finish second and received high praise for his efforts.

After joining Forest last summer, Aina rapidly established himself in the team. Now, it appears that the Reds want to extend his one-year contract and keep him at the club.

Aina deserves the new City Ground contract.

It’s a shame that Aina returned from the AFCON injured. Forest may welcome his presence in the team as they look to reverse a bad run of form.

Forest will be hoping to have Aina available soon, as the team has slipped into the relegation zone as a result of the points deduction.

Given his generally solid performances this season, Forest will not want to risk Aina leaving the club on a free transfer, and it appears that action may be done.

Who Scored shows that Aina has only been dribbled past six times for Forest this season. Furthermore, he has made 29 clearances, demonstrating his defensive abilities.

Hopefully, Forest can immediately lock Aina into a new contract. We think it would be fantastic to know going into the upcoming campaign that a player capable of playing either full-back position will be sticking at the City Ground.
